Failure to check the nameplate for the unit’s manufacture date could lead to a major expense if you need to replace the unit. If you don’t have a nameplate on your unit, then you will have to look up the unit’s information by the serial number on the unit’s nameplate. If you have a nameplate on your unit, you will see the manufacturer’s name and the date of manufacture. The serial number will usually be located at the bottom of the unit. If the manufacturing date is not immediately visible on the condenser, the brand, model and serial number on the condenser plate will help determine the age of the unit.
Go to the outside cabinet: the cabinet that houses the air conditioning system. On most each unit, the nameplate is fixed to the backside of the cabinet. To discover a unit’s manufacture date, you will need to follow the instruction on the factory floor and learn how to interpret the serial or model number. Simply find the manufacture date and check the manufacturing date. A decoder will provide you with the date of manufacture of your model and serial number. In the event, your unit is not listed on their website, please ensure that you know how to enable the decoder manually since they will not be listed on their website.
